As part of a Projection Mapping course, our team worked with SIND Ungdom creating an interactive installation that raises awareness of young people's mental health and encourages volunteering. The installation explores the idea of invisible struggles by inviting visitors to engage through touch, transforming both the visual experience and the message presented.
Arduino & Physical Computing
The installation was built around a life-sized human silhouette. Using Arduino and capacitive touch sensing, we transformed the figure's shoulder into an interactive touchpoint with conductive aluminium foil.
When visitors touched the shoulder, chaotic visuals transitioned into calmer imagery, symbolising how a simple act of support can make a meaningful difference. At the same time, a message encouraging volunteering with SIND Ungdom appeared beside the installation.
By combining physical computing with projection mapping, interaction became part of the storytelling.
TouchDesigner
The projected visuals were created in TouchDesigner using generative graphics, video processing, sound-reactive effects, and custom visual compositions. The evolving visuals reflected different emotional states, shifting between tension and calm in response to the user's interaction.
